Highest polling recorded in Vizianagaram

Third phase of Gram Panchayat Elections in Andhra Pradesh

Amaravati: The third phase of Gram Panchayat Elections in Andhra Pradesh was held on Wednesday.

Highest polling was recorded in Vizianagaram with 87.09 per cent and the lowest polling was recorded in Vishakapatnam with 69.28 per cent.

Other districts percentages includes:

Srikakulam - 80.13 %, Eastgodavari - 74.80 %, West Godavari - 82.42 %, Krishna - 84.65 %, Guntur - 84.80 %, Prakasam - 82.42 %,  Nellore - 83.15 %, Chittoor - 83.04 %, Kadapa - 72.85 %, Kurnool - 83.10 % and Anantapur 80.29 %.

Over 55.75 voters were eligible to exercise their franchise.

Some violent incidents that took place in the districts like Vizianagaram, kept voters away from polling booths for some time.

Voters from West Godavari district were allegedly bribed.

Total 2,639 sarpanch's and 19,553 village ward members will be elected.

Andhra Pradesh State Election Commission has made elaborate arrangements in 160 revenue mandals and 26, 851 polling stations.

Reportedly, in the third phase of Panchayat elections, 3,127 were hypersensitive and 4,118 were sensitive polling stations.
