150 kgs of ganja seized in Krishna district

Two persons were arrested by Krishna district police on Monday in connection with the alleged supply and transportation of ganja. The accused were caught near National Highway-214 during a routine check and 150 kg ganja, worth Rs 20 lakh, were seized from their possession.

Machilipatnam: The Krishna district police on Monday seized 150 kg ganja, worth Rs 20 lakh, and arrested two persons while they were allegedly smuggling the contraband from Andhra Pradesh to Telangana.

The police said that the seizure was made after they had intercepted a car at Janardhanapuram village in Krishna district near National Highway-214 during a routine inspection.

They further arrested two suspected smugglers, who had loaded the ganja in the vehicle at Narsipatnam in Visakhapatnam district of Andhra Pradesh and were headed to Hyderabad in Telangana.

The Nandivada police registered a case and the vehicle along with the seized contraband would be produced in a court.
