Chittoor (Andhra Pradesh): Catapulted to the national spotlight for his work in helping migrants reach their homes, actor Sonu Sood is at it again after delivering a tractor to a family in Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh.

His action comes after a video went viral on social media in which Nageshwar Rao, a tomato farmer from Madanapalle was seen using his daughters for ploughing as he could not afford to rent an ox.

"This family doesn’t deserve a pair of ox. They deserve a Tractor. So sending you one. By evening a tractor will be ploughing your fields," Sonu tweeted.

According to reports, the farmer suffered losses due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. With no cash in hand and Kharif season beginning in the country, the farmer was left with no other choice.

The actor, viewed as a messiah of sorts for migrants, has been arranging for transport for thousands of migrants desperate to return to their home states.

He estimates that he has helped 18,000-20,000 workers to go back to their homes in states such as Odisha, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand.

The lockdown led to a massive exodus with tens of thousands of people leaving the cities to return to their villages walking, cycling or hitching their way home, hundreds, maybe thousands, of kilometres away. Some died of hunger or collapsed in sheer exhaustion.

Previously, the actor also donated over 1,500 PPE kits to doctors across Punjab and provided his Mumbai hotel for the accommodation of the healthcare workers

Sood has also been feeding thousands of underprivileged people along with providing meal kits to migrants in the Bhiwandi area during the holy month of Ramzan.

The philanthropic work has led to memes and cartoons on social media and even some quirky requests, one asking him for help to meet his girlfriend, and another if he can help procure alcohol.

Sood accepts it all with a smile.
