Vishakapatnam: A young man slit a young women's throat in Vishakapatnam for allegedly spurning his advances.
Priyanka, who lives on Thomson Street, was working as a volunteer and in the meanwhile studying degree final year. Srikanth who lives there tried to force her to accept his love. She repeatedly rejected him. On Wednesday morning Srikanth rushed into the young woman's house and slit her throat. He later also injured himself.
ACP Prem Kajal examined the scene. He said that they have registered a case under several sections. Visakha DCP Aishwarya Rastogi inquired about the treatment Priyanka and Srikanth were receiving at KGH. Rastogi said that they would take her testimony as soon as the victim regained consciousness. The accused will be taken into custody once he recovers.
Priyanka is undergoing treatment. AMC Principal PV Sudhakar said both Priyanka and Srikanth had injuries in the throat and damaged airways. With the alternative arrangement, they are being facilitated to breathe. In the case of Priyanka, the larynx was severely damaged. There is no assurance that she would be able to speak or not. Both the victim and the accused will take a few days to recover.
