Sixth-seeded Stefanos', who was a semi-finalist in Australian open earlier this year, defeated world number 110 Marterer in straight sets 6-2, 6-2, 7-6(4).

After his win over German, Tsitsipas, who was playing on the Roland Garros shows court for the first time, said, "It was a difficult first match... In the tie-break I managed to play like I did in the first two sets."
