Melbourne: Seven-time winner Serena Williams cruised to the third round of the 2021 Australian Open after beating Nina Stojanovic of Serbia on Wednesday at Melbourne Park, Melbourne.
The No.10 seed from America used one hour and 9 minutes on the court to ease past the young Serbian player in two straight sets, 6-3, 6-0 at the Rod Laver Arena.
"I just felt like the design that we had before wasn't as Serena-esque, and so the Nike she pushed me very hard and she played really well, honestly throughout the whole match I have to really fight all the games, so it's always good to see young players like her come out and do well because it's exciting for women tennis," she said.
Williams praised the performance of her opponent after she advanced to the third round of Australian Open, saying it's good for women tennis when young players do well.
"I did, I was able to catch the end of it, and it was amazing. So it was really cool to watch Tom Brady win and that was really cool," she added.
The tennis star also said it was cool to see Tom Brady winning the Super Bowl which she was able to catch the end during the busy tennis schedule.
