Kiev: Ten teams from across Europe assembled in Kiev on Sunday for an international polo tournament - on two wheels.
Cycle polo - or bike polo, polo-velo (French) or radpolo (German) - is not exactly new though.
Its origins can be traced back to Ireland and the latter part of the nineteenth century as a spin-off from conventional polo.
It was even included as a demonstration sport at the 1908 Olympic Games in London.
However, the modern game played on hard surfaces rather than grass has wider appeal and has attracted a diverse fan base.
