Hyderabad: Wrestling Federation of India, the administrative body of wrestling in the nation, on Monday recommended the names of Vinesh Phogat, Bajrang Punia for Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award.
Khel Ratna award is the highest sporting honour in the country and the award is granted by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India.

Earlier, Vinesh Phogat has become the first ever athlete from India to be nominated for the Laureus Sports Award.
Other than Phogat and Punia, WGI has also given the name of Rahul Aware, Harpreet Singh, Divya Kakran and Pooja Dhanda for Arjuna. The likes of Virender Kumar, Sujeet Maan, Narendra Kumar, and Vikram Kumar have been recommended for the Dronacharya award.
The Wrestling Federation of India has also recommended Bheem Singh and Jai Prakash for the Dhyan Chand award.
