Doha: Qatar is ready to host the 2019 IAAF Athletics World Championships in Doha said the Director-General of the LOC (Local Organizing Committee) Dhalan Al Hamad on Tuesday.
One of the intriguing innovations of the championships will be the marathons held locally at night time.
Marathons at the championships are normally held in the morning, but the daytime heat in Qatar has seen the organisers opt for a midnight local start time.
In all, 1998 athletes will represent 209 countries from five continents that include 1015 male and 983 female athletes.
The championships will be held over 10 days from 27th September to 6th October at the Khalifa International Stadium and the Doha Corniche.
Qatar previously hosted its inaugural Grand Prix in 1997, a Diamond League meeting over the last 10 years, and the 2010 IAAF World Indoor Championships.
