Hangzhou: Sonam Malik won bronze medal after beating World medalist & reigning Asian Champion Long Jia of China 6-4 in 62kg category adding one more medal to India's medal tally in the ongoing Asian Games. She staved off a spirited challenge from China's Jia Long to secure a podium finish on Friday.
Two wrestlers were locked at 4-4 at one point of time in the bout and her Chinese opponent took lead by a single point. However, Sonam affected a take-down before 25 seconds of the conclusion of the fixture. As a result she won the match by 7-5 in the end and bagged a bronze.

Notably, it is India's third wrestling medal for India in the ongoing edition of he Asian Games as Sunil Kumar and Amit Panghal have also registered an accomplished feat. Kiran (women's 76kg), Aman Sehrawat (men's 57kg) and Bajrang Punia (men's 65kg) are also in contention for bronze medal later in the day.
Wrestling is a discipline for India which includes a lot of medal prospects and it can bring a lot of medals for the country. Also they have bagged 91 medals so far and considering the number of more assured medals in the upcoming events, India are on their way to get 100 medals.
