Ulan-Ude (Russia): India's Lovlina Borgohain stormed past Karolina Koszewska from Poland by a score of 4-1 to advance to the semis of the World Boxing Championships 2019 on Thursday in 69kg category.
This news confirmed India's fourth medal in the tournament. Earlier, Lovlina's compatriot Mary Kom, Manju Rani and Jamuna Boro all booked their spots in the semis and guaranteed India of at least a bronze medal.
“The first and second round went well, I was a bit down in the final round but I made up for it,” said Lovlina after her victory.
Lovlina will now face a Chinese boxer in the semifinal bout.
“I’m up against a Chinese boxer next and I will try my level best to win a gold medal for India,” she said.
