Kedar Jadhav declared fit for World Cup

The 34-year-old had suffered a shoulder injury during Chennai Super Kings' last league game in the IPL

Mumbai: Indian middle-order batsman Kedar Jadhav has been declared fit for the 2019 World Cup in England and Wales starting on May 30. Jadhav is set to board the flight to London with the rest of the Indian team on the morning of May 22.

The 34-year-old had suffered a shoulder injury during Chennai Super Kings' last league game in the IPL. There was a concern regarding his availability for the biggest cricketing extravaganza of the world. However, he recovered well under the watchful eye of Team India physio Patrick Farhart who declared Jadhav fit for the quadrennial tournament.

Jadhav passed the fitness test after a few training sessions at MCA's BKC facility on Thursday morning.

So far, Jadhav played 59 ODIs and scored 1174 runs at an average of 43.50 that include two centuries and five fifties. He scored those runs at a handsome strike-rate of 102.50. His ability to contribute under pressure situations both with the ball and bat make him a vital cog of the Indian team.
