Birmingham: Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has hit back at former cricketer turned cricketing pundit Sanjay Manjrekar for his comments that Jadeja is a 'bits and pieces player' and whose inclusion into the playing XI he is strictly against.
After the hammering of Kuldeep and Chahal against England at Edgbaston, Manjrekar was asked for his views on whether to include Jadeja in place of the spin twins. Answering this to a news agency, the former Mumbai batsman opined, "I am not a big fan of bits and pieces players which Jadeja is at this point of his career in 50-over cricket. In Test matches, he is a pure bowler. But in 50-over cricket, I would rather have a batsman and a spinner. You never actually base your judgements on exceptional results. India losing to England was an exceptional result. Spinners going for runs is exceptional and you have to understand that."
These comments made by Manjrekar were before the game against Bangladesh where Jadeja was again overlooked in favour of Bhuvneshwar Kumar, in a match where Kuldeep was dropped.
Reacting to Manjrekar's comments, a furious Jadeja lashed out at the former Indian batsman in a scathing comment on Twitter, denouncing him of "verbal diarrhoea".
