Bristol: Newly appointed Afghanistan skipper Gulbadin Naib was all praises for Pakistan team following their three-wicket win over Men-in-Green in a Cricket World Cup warmup game on Friday.
"Obviously, Pakistan is a good team. I respect them. They have huge respect in the cricket world, so today it was our day. We played a good cricket (match), so we (performed) what we wanted as the start of the day, so everything went our way. I am pretty happy with my team," Gulbadin Naib said after the match.
Batting first, Pakistan huffed and puffed their ways to 262 before getting bowled out despite a brilliant hundred from Babar Azam. Chasing the target of 263, Afghanistan won the match with two balls to spare.
Hashmatullah Shahidi struck the winning runs for his side and pushed Afghan team to 263-7.
Afghanistan will kick start their World Cup campaign against the defending champions Australia.
