Dhaka: Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on Tuesday announced their 15-man squad for the 2019 World Cup scheduled to take place in England and Wales. There was a surprise pick in the squad as BCB selected uncapped fast bowler Abu Jayed for the marquee event.

Veteran pacer Mashrafe Mortaza will lead the team in the World Cup.
Though Jayed played Tests and T20Is for Bangladesh, he is yet to win his maiden ODI cap. BCB selectors chaired by Minhajul Abedin was impressed by Jayed's impressive bowling during the away Test series against New Zealand last month.
Since he has already made his impact felt in T20Is and Tests, Jayed is expected to make his ODI debut in the quadrennial event.
Bangladesh, who are known for their penchant for upsetting mighty teams such as India, England and Pakistan at the World Cup, will launch their campaign against South Africa on June 2 at Kennington Oval, London.

In the meantime, paceman Rubel Hussain is still recovering from his side strain. Taking their experience into consideration. all there made into the World Cup squad along with senior players- Shakib-Al-Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim and Tamim Iqbal.
Tamim Iqbal and Liton Das have been selected as first choice opening pair while Soumya Sarkar will travel with the team as a stand-by opener.
