Dubai: An outstanding opening partnership of Jonny Bairstow and David Warner helped Sunrisers Hyderabad post a solid total of 201/6 against Kings XI Punjab, here at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Thursday.
Opting to bat first after winning the toss, both the openers' mindsets were pretty clear. The left-hand, right-hand combination of Warner-Bairstow started destroying the bowlers from word go.
At one point, SRH were well set for a mammoth total above 200, but U-19 cricket's product Ravi Bishnoi changed the match in one over by removing Bairstow and Warner. Before getting out Jonny had scored 97 runs in just 55 balls. His innings was studded with six maximums and seven boundaries. Warner who was anchoring the innings scored 52 of 40 balls.
In the very next over Arshdeep Singh dismissed Manish Pandey and SRH's downfall got extended. They were 160 for no wicket at one point and in the span of six balls they were reduced to 161/3.
In Bishnoi's next over he dismissed Abdul Samad while Priyam Garg was sent back by Singh for a duck. In the end, Kane Williamson tried to give SRH's inning a finishing touch.
For KXIP, leg spinner Bishnoi has the best day as he picked three wickets while Singh clinched two in his quota of four overs giving away just 33 runs.
