Hyderabad: Central Crime Branch is set to quizz former India pacer Abhimanyu Mithun over the betting and spot-fixing scandal in Karnataka Premier League. Mithun, in the process, will become the first international cricketer to be questioned by CCB sleuths.

Mithun was captain of the Shivamogga Lions franchise in KPL. The pacer also played four Tests and five ODIs for India.

“We have prepared some questions for Mithun about his game during the last KPL season,” a CCB officer said.

However, Mithun is still in Surat playing T20s for Karnataka.

The CCB nabbed eight people since July in connection with the KPL betting scandal, including Ali Asfak Thara, the owner of Belagavi Panthers.

Mithun first appeared in KPL for Malnad Gladiators. He then played for Bijapur Bills before Shivamogga Lions signed him last season.

Last week, the CCB issued notices to Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) and KPL team managers and sent them a questionnaire on the KPL matches.
