Islamabad : Pakistan chief selector and architect of their only 50 over world cup triumph in 1992, Inzamam-Ul-Haq and former pace stalwart Shoaib Akhtar came into loggerheads over the ommission of pacer Mohammed Amir.

According to the Rawalpindi Express , without Amir the team will be lacking a leader in the pace department. He took to twitter to express that. He stated that with Mohammed Hasnain being inexperienced , Amir could have taken over as the leadership in the pace department but now Hasan Ali and Junaid Khan have to shoulder that responsibility.

It can be recalled that Mohammad Amir was replaced by Mohammed Hasnain. Inzamam defended his decision by stating that Hasnain maintains his speed of 150km/hr. The tussle is between inexperience and out of form. It is true that Amir, recently, was running out of form but Rawalpindi Express has placed 'adaptability to the conditions' in his argument. "The conditions in England would have suited Amir who was selected for the English tour but not for the all important world cup," said Akhtar.

Akhtar expressed optimism that Amir will prove his worth in the English series.

It may be recollected that in 1992 world cup down under, Pakistan were without Waqar Younis and Abdul Qadir. Then Skipper Imran Khan were down with shoulder injury and couldn't bowl to his potential. Still Pakistan managed to clinch the world cup. And in ODIs the outcome can't be predicted till the last ball is bowled. Now it is to be seen whether or not Pakistan can replicate 1992.
