Mumbai: Indian squad for the 2019 World Cup in England and Wales will be announced on 15 April here. The BCCI selection committee for senior men team has already been scanning the performances of the players in the ongoing Indian Premier League as there are numbers of slots to fill up in the Indian ODI team for the forthcoming World Cup.

India will launch their campaign against South Africa on 5 June 2019.
It will be interesting to see whom selectors prefer for the number 4 position. Earlier, selectors said that they will closely scrutinise the performances of batsmen in IPL 2019 to fill the void.
At the same time, the position of an all-rounder and the slot of the fourth bowler will also be kept on the table for discussion.
Team India vice-captain Rohit Sharma had already said that the squad will be conditions-based and that the inputs of Ravi Shastri and Virat Kohli will be factored in before picking the squad.
“I think we are pretty much settled. There are a few spots (undecided) which everyone knows about but again that depends on what the captain and the coach and the selectors think whether they want to go for the extra seamer or the extra spinner or extra middle order player or a reserve opener.

“It also depends upon the conditions. The last time we were in England, the conditions were quite dry. I don’t know how things will be. So if it is like that then you take an extra spinner, as simple as that. If it’s not then probably take the extra seamer,” he said in Mumbai.
