Kolkata: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president Sourav Ganguly and CAB chief Avishek Dalmiya were forced to follow quarantine measures after Cricket Association of Bengal joint secretary Snehasish Ganguly tested positive for Covid-19.
Giving a health update on Snehasish, Dalmiya, in a statement issued by CAB, said, "These are tough times. He has admitted himself yesterday at a city hospital. Other than having mild temperature, he is alright at the moment. Wish him a speedy recovery."
"Yes, I would be undergoing home quarantine for the next few days as per required protocol."
However, it is unlikely that the BCCI chief and Dalmiya would be tested immediately as protocol requires for some symptoms to show before that.
The CAB offices, meanwhile, will remain closed indefinitely till further notice, Dalmiya said.
Meanwhile, a source close to the Ganguly family said, "See, they live in the same house. As per protocol, he will have to be in home quarantine for a stipulated period."
Snehasish had to move to their ancestral house, where Sourav is based, in Behala after his wife and in-laws at his Mominpur residence tested positive for the deadly virus.
According to the reports, Snehasish had a fever from the last two-three days. And on Wednesday he took COVID test and his result came positive result. It has been learnt that Snehasish has been admitted to a city hospital.
Last month, rumours were doing round in media that Snehasish had coronavirus. And he had to issue a statement to quash the rumours.
“I am perfectly healthy and am doing office every day. The news doing rounds about my illness is baseless and is not expected in these trying times,” Snehasish had said. The statement further said: “Hope that after this, it will firmly put a lid on such untrue sensational news that are doing rounds.”
