Sharjah: Delhi Capitals opening batsman Prithvi Shaw and skipper Shreyas Iyer smashed fifties to help their side post a mammoth total of 228/4 against Kolkata Knight Riders here at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.
KKR captain Dinesh Karthik won the toss and asked DC to bat first in what is a batsman's paradise at Sharjah. Openers Shaw and Shikhar Dhawan started off the DC innings with over 50 runs in the powerplay.
In the last, over of the powerplay, Dhawan fell to Varun Chakravarthy. Dhawan scored 26 runs off just 16 balls with the help of two boundaries and two sixes.
Delhi's captain Iyer joined Shaw in the middle and both stitched together an attacking partnership. Both Indian youngsters took the team's total to 129 by the end of the 13th over.

Shaw was then removed by his U-19 teammate Kamlesh Nagarkoti. Shaw played a splendid inning of 66 runs in just 41 balls. He smashed four maximums and four boundaries.

After Shaw's dismissal, Iyer took the charge on KKR bowlers and smashed seven maximums for his unbeaten 88 in just 38 balls. He was well assisted by Rishabh Pant, who scored 38 runs off 17 balls.
