Mumbai: Saba Karim, General Manager, Cricket Operations, at BCCI, has reportedly quit from his position and an official communication on his decision is likely.
Earlier, it was learnt that the rift between BCCI and Karim is broadening, and the former India wicket-keeper is not willing to continue with his job at the BCCI.
Karim had joined BCCI in December 2017 under the supervision of former CEO Rahul Johri. His exit from the board has come just a week after Johri mailed his resignation letter to the BCCI President Sourav Ganguly.
However, BCCI officials maintained silence on Karim's exit and didn't speak a word on his departure. At the same time, it is yet to be known who is going to replace Karim as General Manager.
Karim was responsible for maintaining domestic schedules and cricket operations. But due to COVID-19 pandemic, the entire schedule of the year is seemingly at risk. BCCI planned to resume domestic season from December.
During the July 17 meeting, the board informed the Apex Council that domestic cricket has been postponed to December. Whether it is BCCI's premier domestic tournament Ranji Trophy or any other first-class tournament no tournament will start before December.
At the same time, it was learnt that top domestic tournaments like Duleep Trophy, Deodhar Trophy and Challengers series will be scrapped. As far as international cricket is concerned with India's tour of England has already been postponed Virat Kohli and Co. is unlikely to play international tournament till the end of this year.
