Chennai: The final of the 12th edition of Indian Premier League (IPL) will be held on May 12 here at the M.A Chidambaram Stadium. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) disseminated the information about the summit clash of IPL 2019 to all franchises.

“We have spoken to the local administration with all the centres and they have assured all support,” a Board official was quoted as saying by the media.
Keeping the general elections in mind, the BCCI ensured franchises a home-away format. As per the format, each team will play seven home matches.
BCCI has taken measures to complete each leg-home and away- before the particular city heads to elections. For instance, Kolkata Knight Riders will play their last home match on April 28, much before the city heads for the elections.
“In some centres, we have ensured that there are no matches closer to the election date. And we have done these adjustments accordingly,” one of the Board officials said, referring to Mumbai.

Mumbai will head to elections on April 29, and as a result, no match will be held in the city from April 16 to May 2. “These are the adjustments we had to ensure to ensure there aren’t much of logistical issues,” one of the franchise officials said.
Keeping this fact in mind, Visakhapatnam has been kept as a back-up venue for Mumbai Indians.
