London: ICC on Sunday approved Marnus Labuschagne as a replacement for injured Steve Smith who will be missing rest of the Lord's Test due to a delayed concussion.
Earlier in the match, Smith was hit on his neck by a bouncer from England pacer Jofra Archer on Day 4 which directly forced the former Australian skipper to retire hurt. The Jamaican born bowled some really quick deliveries to Smith, one hitting Smith's left forearm, however, Steven continued to bat after receiving medical attention.
On Sunday, CA announced that Smith has already passed a couple of concussions tests after being hit on the neck, but in the early morning he woke up with a "bit of a headache and a feeling of grogginess".
Cricket Australia earlier applied for a substitute under the new concussion rules which was approved by ICC on day 5 of the test with Marnus Labuschagne being the replacement.
Marnus has become the first player to be substituted into a test under new concussion rules.
