London: England star batsman Alex Hales has taken a break from cricket due to personal reason just before the 2019 World Cup which will be played on English soil.
He missed Nottinghamshire's opening Royal London Cup fixture. His county club later confirmed that no timetable had been set for his return to the game.
A statement released by the county said: “Alex Hales has made himself unavailable for selection for personal reasons and no timetable has been set for his return to action.”
The right-hand batsman has recently represented Islamabad United in Pakistan Super League in March.
Hales was involved in Bristol fight incident for which he was banned for six white-ball games, four of them suspended and fined £17,500 by the ECB.
Another reason which might have forced him to take a break from the cricket is last month when England toured West Indies a newspaper exposed Hails for allegedly cheating on his long-term girlfriend. Eoin Morgan's 50-over side drew 2-2 against West Indies and then won the Twenty20 series 3-0.
Hales has been included in England's preliminary World Cup squad which was declared earlier this week. He is included in the squad as a backup batting option but since 2015 World Cup he has been a consistently destructive force for the English team.
Hails has played 69 matches in which he has scored 2419 runs at an average of 37.8. He has scored six ODI hundred and 14 fifties for England.
