Meerut (Uttar Pradesh): Indian pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar's father, Kiran Pal Singh, succumbed to liver cancer on Thursday.
Kiran Pal Singh, 63, died at his Meerut residence.
Bhuvneshwar's father was first detected with the illness in September 2020.
It is learnt that the bowler's return from the IPL last year from the UAE was mainly due to his father's deteriorating health condition.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar then consulted specialists in the United Kingdom, before Kiran Pal Singh underwent chemotherapy at the All Institute of Medical Science in New Delhi.
However, his condition worsened two weeks ago, so he was admitted to a private hospital in Meerut.
On Tuesday, Kiran Pal Singh was discharged, but he succumbed on Thursday.
Kiran Pal Singh was a sub-inspector in the Uttar Pradesh police department. He is survived by his wife, Indresh Devi, and children - Bhuvneshwar and Rekha.
