Hyderabad: Michelle Li of the Northeastern Warriors defeated Hyderabad Hunters star player PV Sindhu in the fifth season of the Premier Badminton League played at the GMC Balayogi Indoor Stadium in the (PBL) on Wednesday. But despite her heroic's the visiting team could not win the match.
Michelle Li won 15–8, 15–9 against Sindhu. This is Sindhu's first defeat of this season. After this defeat, Hyderabad were trailing 2-0.
But Ben Lane and Vladimir Ivanov outclassed the pair of Bodin Isara and Lee Yong Dae 15-7 and 15-10 in the men's doubles category.
It was a Trump match for the North East team. In PBL, the team winning its trump match gets two points while the losing team has to suffer a loss of one point. Due to this, the Northeast lost one point and Hyderabad got one point.
After this match, the score was equal to 1–1 so the men's singles match of Hyderabad's Darren Lee and Lee Cheuk Yiu became decisive. He won the match 15–9, 15–10 and won the game for Hyderabad.
Earlier, Hyderabad had won the first match of the day. It was a mixed doubles category match and hosts Hyderabad's pair of Vladimir Ivanov and N. Sikki Reddy gave their team a 1-0 lead in the match that lasted three games, beating the Northeast Warriors' Kim Ha Na and Krishna Prasad Garaga 15-12, 8-15, 15-12.
But one point earned from this match was lost by the hosts in the next match. The next match was in the men's singles where Tanongsak Saensomboonsuk of Northeastern was facing Saurabh.
Hyderabad made this match a Trump match. However, Saurabh could not meet the expectations of his team and lost 14-15, 14-15 and with that, he lost one point.
After this, Sindhu's defeat in the women's singles category pushed Hyderabad further back. But the hosts won the last two matches.
