Malaysia Open: Lin Dan wins his 1st major title in 2 years

Kuala Lumpur: Lin Dan notched a thrilling win coming from behind to beat fellow Chinese and reigning Olympic champion Chen Long to win the Malaysia Open 2019 on Sunday- his first major title in two years.

Incidentally, he has won his last major title in 2017 at the Malaysia Open, when he defeated Lee Chong Wei.

Chen Long won the first set 21-9 but Lin Dan bounced back to beat him winning back to back games 21-17 and 21-11 in an hour and 15 minutes encounter.

With this title win, Lin Dan became the first unseeded player to win the tournament in 15 years. The last unseeded player to win the Malaysia Open was Lee Chong in 2004.

Meanwhile, there was one moment to cherish for all badminton fans as Lee Chong Wei was among the presenters and posed with both finalists on the podium for an iconic photo.
