Los Angeles: Hollywood actors Chris Pratt, J.K. Simmons and their co-stars in The Tomorrow War say being able to attend the film's premiere in person is sweeter after a year-long delay caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

"Having to wait for something always makes it a little sweeter," Pratt said. "It's nice to be able to be here and on a red carpet and talking to people up close. And we've gone through a lot, as a country, as a planet. And it's nice to see that we may be on the other end of that."

The film follows Dan Forester (Pratt) after he's drafted to fight in a future war against aliens and must leave his wife and daughter behind.

Pratt said he drew on his own role as a husband to Katherine Schwarzenegger and as a father of two for the part. "The elements of family in this film, what you would be willing to do to protect your children, to protect your wife, absolutely draw on my own human experience in having a wife and having children," he said.

Simmons said fatherhood has been a regular point of discussion between him and the action star. Simmons is the father of two grown children. Pratt, who executive produced the film, said making The Tomorrow War special in its genre was important to him.
