Los Angeles: Actress Elizabeth Banks, who is set to star in the Invisible Woman, has confirmed to helm the horror movie.

According to media reports, Banks is developing an original take based on the classic Universal title and is attached to star in and direct the feature project.

She also will produce the project along with her husband Max Handelman via the duo's Brownstone Productions.

The Invisible Woman was in the screwball comedy mould which followed The Invisible Man and The Invisible Man Returns, that were more horror thrillers in line with now-classic horror titles.

Erin Cressida Wilson, who penned The Girl on the Train, wrote the current draft of the script. Sources close to Elizabeth said that the tone of the project is 'Thelma & Louise' meets 'American Psycho'.

The actor-cum-producer and writer Banks, who is coming off Charlie's Angels' reboot, made her directorial debut with 2015's Pitch Perfect 2.
