Los Angeles: The cast of 'Avengers: Endgame' gathered on April 6, to talk about their love for the franchise and appreciation of the fans – but kept their lips sealed tight about their characters and plot.

Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo - who also helmed the previous instalment, 'Infinity War' – 'Endgame' is the fourth and final Avengers movie in the current Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The hotly anticipated film sees the return of characters including Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Captain America (Chris Evans), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) for potentially the last time in their current iteration.

Following the events of 'Infinity War', in which Thanos (Josh Brolin) destroyed half of all life in the universe, the heroes must join forces one last time in a desperate attempt to save the day.

"The whole shoot felt pretty nostalgic, especially this one," said Hemsworth. "We were constantly sort of talking about when it all started and how we sort of pulled this off and what we were a part of… Yeah, it was incredibly special and emotional."

Don Cheadle, who plays the character James Rhodes/War Machine, joked that Mark Ruffalo was the most emotional while shooting wrapped.

"We love each other and we're always sad at the end of working on a movie," said Ruffalo, who added that all the cast got teary-eyed.

For Johansson, her journey as Black Widow has been made all the more special because of the fans.

"They only really know you as the character, there's something really awesome about that actually," she said. "They don't want to know anything personal about you. They really are just so excited to ask you about the character and talk about the character interactions and who is best friends."

Both Jeremy Renner and Paul Rudd were also flattered by the level of fandom.

"That's the coolest person but also like the strangest. How does a kid know my name? Yeah like my full name. 'That's Jeremy Renner, are you Hawkeye?' 'Like what?'" Renner said.

"Yeah that's true this, it's the first time we do anything that kids would ever know," added Rudd.

As for the film's plot, however, the cast all remained tight-lipped.

"I am not committing to anything," laughed Nebula actress Karen Gillan. "I'm too scared to speak."
