Taapsee mourns Chandro Tomar's demise, Bhumi says 'part of me is gone'

Chandro Tomar, popularly known as Shooter Dadi, who had tested positive for the novel coronavirus has passed away today. Actors Taapsee Pannu, Bhumi Pednekar and Kangana Ranaut took to social media to mourn the demise of sharpshooter from Uttar Pradesh.

Hyderabad: Shooter Chandro Tomar, 89, passed away due to COVID-19 on Friday. She had been admitted to a hospital in Meerut earlier this week after she had complained of difficulty breathing.

Bhumi Pednekar, who played the character of Chandro Tomar in Tushar Hiranandani's 2019 released Saand Ki Aankh, took to social media to mourn the octogenarian sharpshooter's demise.

"Devastated by the news of Chandro Dadi’s demise. Feels like a part of me is gone. She made her own rules & paved the path for many girl to find their dream. Her legacy will live on in them. Condolences to the family. Am lucky I got to know and be her Folded hands#ChandroTomar #ShooterDadi," tweeted Bhumi.

Saand Ki Aankh is a biographical film based on the life story of sharpshooters Chandro and her sister-in-law Prakashi Tomar. Taapsee Pannu who essayed the role of Prakashi Tomar also paid tribute to Chandro on Twitter. Sharing a picture with Chandro, Taapsee wrote, "For the inspiration you will always be... Chandro and Prakashi are from Uttar Pradesh's Johri village and reportedly took up sharpshooting in their 50s. Chandro was among the world's oldest female sharpshooters.
