Hyderabad: Actor Saif Ali Khan will be essaying Raavan, the ultimate antagonist from Ramayan in the highly anticipated film Adipurush. The actor is excited to lock horns with Prabhas on-screen who plays Lord Ram in the film. After landing himself in controversy for talking about his role in the film earlier, the actor has now doled out some interesting details about his character in the film.

Saif won the audience and critics' love with his portrayal of the vile Langda Tyagi in 2006 released Omkara. Last year, he impressed in Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior portraying Aurangzeb's royal guard Udaybhan Singh Rathore who was pitted against Ajay Devgn's Tanhaji Malusare. He will be back as villain in Adipurush, starring Telugu star Prabhas.

The actor had earlier described the project as "phenomenal" adding that he is looking forward "to clashing swords with the mighty Prabhas and to play a role that is electrifying and demonic". The 50-year-old actor in a recent virtual interview confirmed the rumours about physically he will be being projected larger than his original self in the film. When asked about playing the greatest villain of Hindu mythology, Saif, without divulging much said, "He is going to make me larger than I'm. There will some trickery involved...But a lot of it is real in the sense that they want us to train...look particularly tough. All that stuff is normal but that's really not the main thing."

Not only looks, but Saif also seems to be making efforts to understand the psyche of the character, which according to him is driven by a sense of vanity.

"The point is he (Raavan) is India's kind of Satan, he's the demon king and I guess what drives him...I was trying to find a way into doing this and I think that the thing is vanity, the personification of vanity, so everything comes from there. Everything - the boons that he prays for, the kingdom that he wants. His whole outlook is just incredibly clouded, blind and vain. He's a monster and he's strong and fun to play in that sense," he said.

Revealing the coolest thing about playing Raavan in Adipurush, Saif said, "But the whole point of the story, in a way, psychologically, really, is overcoming the monster. That's what the story is about. It's about Lord Ram overcoming him and the stronger he is, the more of an achievement it is for the hero. So he's dressed up in dazzling clothes and he's got an array of weapons and he's got a tremendous amount of knowledge and skill and power but he's vain and he says some outrageous things. But it's a big thing to play the main bad guy right? And I'll tell you one thing, though, I do have ten heads at a point which is one of the cool things."

Saif and Prabhas aside, the film also features Kriti Sanon and Sunny Singh in lead roles. Adipurish film will be released in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada. It is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Om Raut, Prasad Sutar and Rajesh Nair.
