Mumbai: Actor Saif Ali Khan has taken his words back on his role in upcoming film Adipurush. The actor has issued a clarification and has apologised and said that hurting sentiments was never his intention.
Yesterday, an interview of Saif with a webloid created a stir on social media. Saif will be seen playing Lankesh in the film which stars Baahubali fame Prabhas as Lord Ram. Describing his character, Saif in the interview said that "It’s interesting to play a demon king, less strictures in that. But we will make him humane, up the entertainment quotient, justify his abduction of Sita and the war with Ram as revenge for what was done to his sister Surpanakha by Lakshman, who cut off her nose."

The actor was massively trolled on social media after which he has extended an apology and withdrawn his statement.
"I’ve been made aware that one of my statements during an interview, has caused controversy and hurt people’s sentiments. This was never my intention or meant that way. I would like to sincerely apologise to everybody and withdraw my statement. Lord Ram has always been the symbol of Righteousness & Heroism for me. Adipurush is about celebrating the victory of good over evil and the entire team is working together to present the epic without any distortions," the 50-year-old said in his statement.
This is not the first time that Saif has courted controversy for Adipurush. In September this year, a certain section of social media demanded to remove Saif from the film when the makers announced that he will be playing Lankesh in Adipurush.
