Mohali: Punjabi singer Elly Mangat was arrested by the police on Wednesday before he could reach Rami Randhawa with whom he got involved in a verbal spat on social media.
Elly Mangat who went to see Rami Randhawa as a part of a challenge of seeing the latter was nabbed by the police before he could reach Randhawa's residence in Purab Apartments in Sector 88.
Following his arrest, Mangat was taken to Sohana police station along with his five friends who accompanied them.
When the singer was nabbed by the police, many youngsters gathered in front of the police station to support Rami. Reportedly, the police also had to resort to mild lathi-charge to control the situation.

According to sources, some of the supporters were carrying firearms. Some of them also fired gunshots in the air in Sector 88.
Reportedly, Elly and Rami were involved in an abusive feud on social media and had also thrown a challenge to settle scores with each other on a personal meet on the same day.
The police registered a case for obscene acts and criminal intimidation against the singers along with Rami's brother Prince Randhawa under Sections 294, 504 and 506 of the IPC.
Later, Elly was released on bail. However, the police also intended to arrest the singer again as he again indulged in objectionable acts on social media. Further, a cross-examination was conducted in the presence of Elly and Rami at the police station.
However, Elly and Rami continued to throw challengers at each other even after the registration of a case.
