Chennai: Playback singer SP Balasubrahmanyam, who was admitted to MGM Healthcare Chennai with COVID-19 symptoms on August 5 is currently stable, declared the medical team at the hospital.
After his condition deteriorated he was shifted to the Intensive Medical Care(ICU) and since then the veteran singer has been provided with ECMO support as per the advice of the expert medical team.
"Thiru S P Balasubrahmanyam who had been admitted at MGM Healthcare due to COVID-19 continues to be on Ventilator and ECMO support in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). His condition currently is stable, and he continues to be closely monitored by our multidisciplinary clinical team," the health bulletin from the hospital read.

"MGM Healthcare's multidisciplinary team consists of specialists from internal Medicine, Critical Care, Pulmonology, Infectious Diseases and ECMO care. Our multi-disciplinary team is actively collaborating with international experts from reputed centres in the U.S and U.K, that have witnessed large volumes of COVID-19 patients requiring ECMO support," it further read.
