Kolkata: Bengali actor turned Member of Parliament Nusrat Jahan took up the #SafeHands challenge to generate awareness among fans and followers. But in return, the actor has been trolled for wasting water unnecessarily as she left the tap open.
The TMC MP on Thursday, took to social media to post a video that featured her showing the ideal ways of washing hands as issued by the World Health Organisation.
Sharing the short video on Instagram, Nusrat wrote: "Let us all take precautionary measures and wash our hands every hour to prevent COVID-19. Remember to not waste water. Stay Safe - Stay Alert. #SafeHands Challenge."

She further urged everyone to take up the initiative saying, "join the challenge, follow WHO guidance."

While a section of the netizens has praised her, others trolled the actor for wasting water.
One social media user wrote: "Sanitisation is important but saving water is also important, u kept wasting water the whole time... Sad!!!"
Another commented: "Please turn off the tap while you wash your hands with soap guys!! Let's not forget other major problems while fighting this one."
Reminding her to keep the tap closed, a user wrote: "Please close the tap while you rubbing your hand... Save water also."
"Its good to wash hand and aware people about this.. but it sad that u kept the tap on.. please save water... Don't waste it unnecessarily and for shooting videos for fame," read another comment.
