The 'Badhaai Ho' hitmaker's next film will focus on the golden years of Indian football between 1951 and 1962. In the film, Ajay will play the role of Syed, who was a coach and manager of the Indian national football team is known. Now, the reports of Keerthy being signed up as a leading lady has upped excitement around the period film.
The yet-to-be-titled sports biopic will be bankrolled by Akash Chawla's Freshlime Films and Boney Kapoor. The makers are planning to take the film on floors around May or June.
Keerthy, while speaking to a leading daily, expressed how excited she is to be part of a film which tells a story of "forgotten chapter in Indian sports history".
The makers are equally happy to have Keerthy on board since the actress has a huge fan following in Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam cinema. Boney, who is reuniting with Amit after 'Tevar' fiasco expects that Keerthy's presence would give the sports drama an enhanced reach in the Southern belt.
On a related note, Ajay is riding high on the success of his latest release 'Total Dhamaal'. Up next for Ajay is 'Taanaji: The Unsung Warrior' which is in the last leg of shooting, post which he will dive into the Syed biopic.
For her Hindi debut, Keerthy will have to squeeze out time from her Malayalam film 'Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham'. Directed by Priyadarshan, the epic historical war film has Mohanlal playing the title role.
