Hyderabad: After essaying the role of late Tamil Nadu chief minister J. Jayalalithaa in Thalaivi, Bollywood actor-producer Kangana Ranaut is all set to bring to screen another tall personality of Indian politics. The actor, who had earlier confirmed playing former PM Indira Gandhi in an upcoming film, has now revealed the title of the films as she began preparing for the same.
On Wednesday, Kangana took to Instagram Stories to share a glimpse of Emergency prep. The actor has shared two short videos from the office of her banner Manikarnika Films Production wherein she is seen getting scanned. Dropping the first video, Kangana wrote, "Guess what is going on in @manikarnikafilms." A few minutes later she posted another video with which she announced the commencement of the Emergency journey. "Body scans for film Emergency, time to get into Madam Prime Minister Indira Gandhi ji's skin."

Kangana also shared few images on Instagram and said that Emergency will be a 'very special" film. Sharing the images Kangana wrote, Every character is a beautiful beginning of a new journey, today we started journey of #Emergency #Indira with body, face scans and casts to get the look right. Many amazing artists get together to bring one’s vision alive on screen…. This one will be very special @manikarnikafilms."

Earlier this year, Kangana had confirmed that she will be playing Indira Gandhi but the film won't be a biopic. According to reports, the upcoming film will cover significant moments of Indian political history including Operation Blue Star and The Emergency. The multiple National Award-winning actor has also said that the film is a grand political drama that will help the young generation to understand the socio-political landscape of current India.
Director Sai Kabir, who worked with Kangana earlier in the 2014 crime drama movie Revolver Rani will be helming the project and will also write the story and screenplay.
Currently she awaits the release of her film Dhaakad. The film is touted as a spy thriller that casts Kangana as Agent Agni. Arjun Rampal plays the antagonist Rudraveer. The Razneesh Razy Ghai directorial is slated to release on October 1. Apart from Dhaakad, Kangana's upcoming roster includes Thalaivi and Tejas.
