Hyderabad: A biopic on seasoned Indian pacewoman Jhulan Goswami is among the highly anticipated films for obvious reasons and more so since it will mark Anushka Sharma's comeback after her last outing Zero in 2018. The chatter around Jhulan biopic, however, added to the rife speculations that the film is being put on the backburner, which is not true.

The makers are still game for the Jhulan biopic and the project is in its pre-production stage. According to the latest reports, scripting for Jhulan biopic is underway. A source close to the project told a webloid that the makers are yet to find a director for the film and once the captain of the ship takes charge of the project, Anushka will kickstart her preparation for the role. Looking at how things are moving ahead, according to those in the know, Jhulan biopic is likely to go on floors in 2022.

For unversed, Jhulan represented India in 68 T20Is picking up 56 wickets, which included a five-wicket haul against Australia in Visakhapatnam in March 2012. She had made her T20I debut in August 2006 against England in Derby. Goswami, a veteran of 10 Tests and 189 ODIs is currently the leading wicket-taker in the women's ODI format and also the first woman cricketer to take 236 ODI wickets. She is also the proud recipient of the country’s 4th highest civilian award, the Padma Shri.

Meanwhile, Anushka, who welcomed daughter Vamika with cricketer husband Virat Kohli in January, is busy with her production ventures. Sharma will soon be launching Irrfan Khan's son Babil Khan with Netflix film Qila which will also star Tripti Dimri in the lead role.
