Filmmaker whose debut inspired Ujda Chaman speaks to ETV Bharat

Amid huge controversy, Kannada filmmaker Raj B Shetty recently wished the makers of Ujda Chaman, an official adaptation of his 2017 release Ondu Motteya Kathe all the best for their latest film.

Mumbai: The latest Bollywood release Ujda Chaman, an official remake of 2017 Kannada film Ondu Motteya Kathe has hit the big screens today. The movie raged a lot of controversy for its similarity with Ayushmann Khurrana starrer Bala. However, filmmaker Raj B Shetty who helmed the original recently wished the makers of Ujda Chaman all the best for the remake.

In a recent interaction with ETV Bharat, Raj B Shetty who also played the main lead in Ondu Motteya Kathe apart from directing the film expressed his happiness over his been made in a big industry like Bollywood.

He said that the release of a small budget film like Ondu Motteya Kathe in such a huge film industry like Bollywood boosts the confidence of people working in the regional film industry.

Raj wished the makers of Ujda Chaman all the success for the film, adding that if it will be a success more people will recognize the potential of the Kannada film industry. Moreover, it will also boost up the market of their industry.

Initially, the makers of Ujda Chaman slammed the makers of Bala for copying their content as they had the official rights of Ondu Motteya Kathe.

Abhishek Pathak, the debutant director of Ujda Chaman, also sent a notice to Maddock Films, the producer of Bala, who claims that the similarity of the plot is merely a coincidence.

The makers of Bala even changed the release date of the film from November 15 to November 7, a day before Ujda Chaman was initially slated to release. However, after Ujda Chaman got preponed to November 1, the makers of Bala shifted their release to November 8.

Ujda Chaman which stars Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety fame Sunny Singh as the main lead is produced by Kumar Mangat Pathak and Abhishek Pathak.
