Exclusive: Goregaon Film City ready for shoot, set construction begins

From June 15, filming of serials, films and digital series are allowed in the film city in Goregaon as per the rules laid down by the government. So far, 15 to 20 production houses have applied for permission and they have been granted the same.

Mumbai: The Cultural Department of the state has allowed to commence shooting in Dadasaheb Phalke Chitranagari film city in Goregaon.

The shooting had come to a halt for more than two months, owing to the coronavirus lockdown.

From June 15, filming of serials, films and digital series are allowed in the film city in Goregaon as per the rules laid down by the government.

So far, 15 to 20 production houses have applied for permission and they have been granted the same.

Sangeeta Shelke, Manager (Artists) of the film City informed that shooting outside Chitranagari has also been allowed from today.

There are about 20 to 25 sets in film city dedicated for series and films.

Entry to the premises is only allowed after thermal screening and sanitation.

It is the responsibility of the concerned to abide by all the rules laid down by the government.

After getting permission to shoot in the film city, filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali has started building the sets for his upcoming film. An ambulance has also been provided in case of any mishap on the film set.

However, most of the workers are still in their respective hometowns. They have been called to resume their work soon.

The producer who sought permission for a series said that it will take another two to three weeks for the filming to start, once the workers arrive and all the rules set by the government are put in place.
