Box office: 'Total Dhamaal' sees excellent first week

Hyderabad: Ajay Devgn starrer 'Total Dhamaal' which opened to a positive word of mouth from the critics and impressive numbers at the box office has seen tremendous growth on day 2 and 3. The film has successfully crossed 50 crore mark in its first week.

Despite being a non-holiday release, the multi-starrer comedy opened to a great collection at the ticket counters.

The movie earned ₹ 16.50 crore on Friday, ₹ 20.40 crores on Saturday and ₹25.50 crores on Sunday raking in a total of ₹ 62.40 crores.

Helmed by Indra Kumar, 'Total Dhamaal' features an ensemble cast including Riteish Deshmukh, Arshad Warsi, Javed Jaffrey, Madhuri Dixit, Esha Gupta and Anil Kapoor.

'Total Dhamaal' is the third instalment in the successful 'Dhamaal' franchise released in 2007. The second film, titled 'Double Dhamaal' was released in 2011.

The comedy entertainer has also performed well in the overseas market. However, following the horrifying terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir that claimed the lives of 49 CRPF troopers, the makers decided to not release the film in Pakistan.

'Total Dhamaal' hit the theatres on February 22.
