Akki to play double role in Jagan Shakti's sci-fi entertainer

Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar is all set to play a double role in filmmaker Jagan Shakti's upcoming directorial venture. The actor has signed his Mission Mangal director's sci-fi drama which will be mounted on a lavish scale.

Mumbai: Actor Akshay Kumar is on a signing spree. After the announcement of Ram Setu, the actor is said to have given nod to filmmaker Jagan Shakti's upcoming directorial venture which is a big-budget sci-fi drama.

Akshay, who starred in Jagan's 2019 release Mission Mangal, has reportedly joined hands with the director for a science fiction entertainer, reported a leading webloid. Though nothing much is known about the yet-to-be-titled film, reports suggest that Akki "is pulling out all stops in terms of budgetary expense" since the project will require a heavy VFX work.

In the upcoming film, the Padman actor will be seen essaying a double role. Jagan had maintained a pleasant undercurrent of humour in Mission Mangal and keeping the streak of humour alive, Akki's both roles in the upcoming film are said to be sketched in a way that it will "keep fans grinning."

This is not the first time when Akki will be playing a double role. The actor has entertained his fans with a double dose of entertainment in films like Jai Kishan, Khiladi 420, Aflatoon and Rowdy Rathore.

Akshay has wrapped up the shoot of his upcoming spy thriller Bell Bottom, and is working on the period drama, Prithviraj. He has also joined Sara Ali Khan on the sets of Aanand L. Rai's love story Atrangi Re after which he will kickstart shooting for Bachchan Pandey.

Akshay's next release is Rohit Shetty's Sooryavanshi in which he plays a cop battling terrorism. The film also stars Katrina Kaif opposite him and will feature extended cameo appearances by Ranveer Singh as Simmba and Ajay Devgn as Bajirao Singham.

He will be reuniting with Anand L Rai for Raksha Bandhan which is penned by Himanshu Sharma. The superstar has announced that he will be dedicating the film to his sister Alka.
