Maharashtra flower farmer turns inventor, builds electric bike out of scrap

Dnyaneshwar Umajirao Kalyankar, 30, a flower farmer from Maharashtra's Nanded district has achieved something incredible. Tired of the rising fuel prices, this Pimpalgaon Shivara resident took it upon himself to develop an electric bike. Kalyankar, who has studied only till 10th, experimented with old motorcycle parts for around two years until he eventually struck gold and created an electric two-wheeler. The e-bike can cover 100 kilometres consuming only two units of electricity. It cost him around Rs 40,000 to create the e-bike. Kalyankar and his siblings cultivate different types of flowers to eke out a living.
