🎬 Watch Now: Feature Video
Education is perhaps the only tool that has the power to change society, says Babunath Tudu, a primary school teacher from West Bengal's’s Bankura district. Having struggled to educate himself, Tudu, who now runs a free residential school for tribal children in his village at Hapania, is bringing about the change in the neighbourhood. Tudu along with his wife, Laxmi started their journey by teaching just one child that too free of cost and under a banyan tree. Slowly more children joined their classes and they started a full-fledged residential school for tribal students. The number of students has also grown – from 50 to 83 now. Tudu and his wife look after the boarders, provide meals and tiffin to them. All these are totally free. The main motto of Tudu is to uplift these backward students with quality education.
