Assam lawmaker celebrates festival with song and dance

With barely a few hours left for the Bhogali Bihu or Magh Bihu, Assam already switched into celebration mode. Bhogali Bihu is celebrated at the end of harvesting season and with a good harvest people from all walks of life enjoy by feasting. The people of Assam are going to celebrate the Uruka, the pre-Bhogali Bihu feast on Wednesday night.
While people indulged in the traditional community fishing activity in different parts of the state, some people were also seen thronging the markets to buy their favourite fish and meat to celebrate the festival. BJP legislator from Batadrawa constituency, Angoorlata Deka was also seen taking part with groups of women at a community fishing in her constituency. Clad in traditional Tiwa community wrap (Yellow and Bule), Angoorlata Deka danced to the tune with the locals and fished at the Charipunia beel (waterbody) at Batadrawa in Morigaon district of Assam on Wednesday.
