Villagers carried a sick woman on a makeshift stretcher for over 13 kilometres on Saturday due to a lack of proper road to her house in Padisalanattha village of Chamarajnagar district in Karnataka. The villagers said they always face difficulty when they have to take a pregnant woman or a sick person to hospitals. The incident is the tell-tale of how remote villages in the country are struggling in lack of basic amenities such as road connectivity, proper healthcare facilities.
