With the onset of winter, a large number of migratory birds from Siberia fly thousands of kilometres to escape the cold and land on the ghats of Ganga in Varanasi. Tourists also enjoy the presence of these special guests as photography enthusiasts spend hours on the ghats, clicking pictures of the birds flying and landing on the Ganga. These Siberian birds migrate to Banaras for about 3 months and return home after a long flight in early summer.
