Manipuri and Odissi staged on 2nd day of Konark Dance Festival

The second night of Odisha Tourism department’s five-day twin mega-events of Konark Festival and International Sand Art Festival, 2020 showcased a beautiful set of Manipuri dance performances. First Manipuri dance was performed at the open-air auditorium of The Konark Festival and latter Odissi danced performed by Bengaluru based troupes. A Manipuri dance troupe from Kolkata performed the dance. Manipuri Nartanalaya led by renowned choreographer Bimbavati Devi. The second programme was Odissi performed by a troupe of Sanjali Ensemble from Bengaluru led by exponent Sharmila Mukherjee. During the day, artists created sculptures of the golden sand on themes of sea life, ethnic culture and COVID-19 awareness on Chandrabhaga Beach. On the third day of the festival, Kuchipudi dance will be staged. Reportedly, the Five-day twin mega-events of Konark Festival and International Sand Art Festival started from December 1 to December 5.
